The Burgert Brothers Photographic Collection presents a unique pictorial record of the commercial, residential and social growth of Tampa Bay and Florida's West coast from the late 1800s to the early 1960s. Nearly 15,000 images in this collection chronicle the history of the Tampa Bay area as it faced wars, natural disasters, economic booms and busts.
The Development Committee of the Friends of the Library of Tampa-Hillsborough County, Inc. has created two fundraisers using the Burgert Brothers photographs. The projects have provided funding for the restoration and promotion of the Collection.
For the past 12 years, the members have produced, in partnership with the Tampa Bay History Center, the Burgert Brothers Historic Tampa Calendar. Each year 13 photographs are selected to be featured in the calendar. Sponsors are obtained for the cover and each month. The calendar sells for $5.
The Committee has also produced notecard sets, each featuring six Burgert Brothers photographs. There are two notecards of each photograph. The notecard sets sell for $10.
The items are sold at all branch libraries. They can also be obtained by calling the Friends Office at 813 273-3616.
