XP Wireless Internet Access Setup
The visual instructions below apply specifically to Microsoft's® Windows XP. Click an image to enlarge. Instructions may be similar for other Windows OSes.

Click the Start button...select Control Panel...

Depending on your setup, select Network and Internet Connections then click on Network Connections or just click Network Connections.
A window similar to the one shown to the right will appear...

Right click on the object Wireless Network Connection & select Properties...when dialog box opens make sure you place a check in the box Show icon in notification area when connected.
This checkbox is located towards the bottom of the General tab.
Now, click the Wireless Networks tab...

Make sure a check is placed in the box Use Windows to configure my network settings.
An SSID should already appear called wireless. If you see more than one, click the one called wireless so that it is highlighted.
Click the Properties button to configure security parameters for this connection.

Network Authentication should be set to Open.
Data encryption should be set to Disabled.
Click the OK button.

Click the OK button once more.
A window similar to the one shown should appear showing your connection ID and signal strength.

Depending on your setup, you may see multiple wireless connections.
If you are in the library, select the connection wireless and place a check in the box Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network even though it is not secure.
Click the Connect button.
