What Is Reciprocal Borrowing?
- Reciprocal borrowing is a pilot program to increase access to materials for library customers. Users with a library card from another county may check out items from a neighboring county.
- There are no fees associated with this program.
- More choice in libraries to check-out from and return material to.
- More convenience for residents in all participating counties.
How To Use The Program In Hillsborough County:
- Present your public library card from Citrus, Desoto, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Manatee, Okeechobee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota or Sumter County and a form of address verification.
- Complete the registration form.
What You Need To Know About Borrowing Materials From HCPLC:
- Loan Period: Most materials are loaned for 3-week periods
- Videos/CDs/DVDs: Check out for 7 days
- Overdues: 10¢ per day, per item up to $2.00 (some exceptions) / Customers may be notified by the Electronic Notification System
- Returns: You may return your library materials to any participating library.
- Interlibrary Loan Requests: ILL requests must be placed at your home library.
How To Use The Program In Citrus, Desoto, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Manatee, Okeechobee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota or Sumter County:
- Present your Hillsborough County public library card and a form of identification with Hillsborough County address
(or proof of land ownership in Hillsborough County).
- Follow that library's procedure for registering as a library borrower.
- Abide by the check out rules for that library. Certain restrictions may apply.
