Maps & Atlases

The John F. Germany Public Library has a wide variety of historical and current maps as well as a variety of atlases on 2 West. Maps range from road and trail to topographical and political. Most of this collection is kept in the reference area but a selected few are available to circulate. Government and historic maps can be very useful for genealogical and/or general research. As in other collections, the emphasis is on representing Florida comprehensively.

The library holds an entensive collection of Sanborn Fire Insurance Company Maps for Tampa and Florida. Maps are available for the city of Tampa in four bound volumes covering the years 1930-1953. Commercial and residential structures are specified and an index is available. Additional maps of Tampa, and maps of other Florida cities are available online.
