The Library is pleased to announce a new exhibition, "Pride and Passion:The African-American Baseball Experience" running from January 4 to February 19, 2010. The exhibition examines the challenges faced by African-American baseball players as they sought equal opportunities in the sport beginning in the post Civil War era.

Featuring Dr. Lawrence Hogan, Dr. Robert Cvornyek, artist Kadir Nelson, Sharon Robinson, daughter of Jackie Robinson, former Negro League players
and a special guest appearance by former Belmont Heights Little League player and local baseball great Gary Sheffield.
The "Pride and Passion" traveling exhibition was organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the American Library Association Public Programs Office, and was made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: great ideas brought to life.
