Steve Adams

Steve Adams spent his entire business life in the insurance industry, travelling the world while working in London, Bermuda, and New York before opening his own agency in Sarasota, Florida. He sold the agency in 2013 with his expressed intention to hike the entire 2,185.3 mile length of the Appalachian Trail. Returning from the hike, he documented his life-changing journey in his first three books, then started a podcast, Mighty Blue on the Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis.

June Hyjek

Author, speaker and mind/body coach June Hyjek offers comfort and encouragement through her books, meditations and workshops to people who are experiencing the challenges life can offer. June personally deals with debilitating complications from scoliosis and has moved through the physical and emotional pain of seven spine surgeries, finding healing through mind/body approaches and the loving support of others. Her experience provides the passion for her work and her speeches, which offer inspiration and hope for achieving and maintaining wellness.

Briar Lee Mitchell

Briar Lee Mitchell, EdD, has worked as an illustrator and author for over 40 years and has worked with the Smithsonian, the Air Force, the F.B.I., Warner Bros., Disney, Universal and LucasArts Games. Currently she teaches college courses on how to make video games and donates her time, with her dog Thor, helping law enforcement find missing people.

Michael Parise

Michael Parise was a Catholic priest for over 32 years and served as a pastor, spiritual director, pastoral counselor, teacher, mentor, healer, published author, and artist. He has a degree in biology and three Master’s degrees in various theological fields. Michael specializes in helping executives and professionals who are drowning in personal responsibilities, assisting them to take charge of their priorities and simplify their lives so they have more balance and joy. A transplant from Boston, he now resides in in Tampa, Florida with his husband.

Joe Zuniga

Joe Zuniga discovered a love for music as a teenager and in 2011 decided to professionally launch his singing career. In 2012, he became the first in Florida to be nominated for a Tejano Music Award; he also won a Tejano Globe Award for his first single. In 2016, he released his first book “Debra LaFave – A Crown of Beauty for Ashes.” Born in Miami, Florida Joe currently lives in Tampa, Florida.

For Local Writers

The purpose of the local author collection is to support and encourage content creation, entrepreneurial achievement, and community prosperity, and to encourage local authors to meet and share their work and experiences.

Submissions are welcome from local authors that reside in the Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Sarasota, Manatee or Polk County).

Be sure to take a look at the self-publishing resources in the library collection.

Print Book Submissions

  • Authors must submit a physical copy of their book for review along with an Local Author Submission form.
  • Please see the form for guidelines and more information about the process.

eBook Submissions

The following items are required for all local author e-book submissions:

  • A signed copy of the Supplier Agreement
  • A completed Author Worksheet
  • Two versions of your work's cover image (one full-size and one thumbnail)
  • A digital copy of the book itself, in EPUB or PDF format
