Can I use the Internet?

Use of the computers is free of charge. Your own library card number is required to log on.

Visitor's Internet-Only passes are available for those in town for just a few days. These visitors must first show an out-of-town ID.

How long can I use the Internet?

Library patrons are granted access to Internet computers for a total of 150 minutes (2 1/2 hours) per day. You can have as many as 60 minutes per session on a regular Internet computer, plus a 15 minute extension if no other patrons are waiting.

Internet time use is tracked by minutes (e.g., if a customer uses 20 minutes during their first session, they will have 130 minutes remaining).

Most libraries have specially-designated Internet express computers, for which the maximum session time is 15 minutes. Time spent on these express computers also counts toward the 2 1/2 hour limit.

Can I use free wireless?

All libraries are equipped with wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet access.

You may bring in your own wireless-capable device (laptop computer or mobile device) and connect to the Internet. An internal or external wireless card, as well as software appropriate to the card, is required for your device.

Can I print?

Public computers within the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library system will print to a networked printer.

You'll be prompted to enter a user name and password. TIP: keep password number simple and easy to remember.

How much does it cost to print?

Cost: $.20 per page, for black and white laser copies or prints. Machines take coins, $1 bills, and $5 bills for large jobs.

Can I make a photocopy?

Photocopies are made on the same printer/copier. Copies and prints are on 8 1/2 x 11 letter size paper, single-sided only. Copy paper is supplied; other paper may not be used.

Can I send a fax?

Limited free faxing is provided as a courtesy for patrons at all Tampa-Hillsborough public libraries and Bruton Memorial Library in Plant City. The Temple Terrace Library does not offer this service.

Staff may only fax to 813 area code or toll-free numbers. Faxes should be no more than 5 pages long, including cover sheet. A maximum of five faxes per day per person will be allowed.

The library will not accept any incoming faxes or replies; you may instead consult commercial services such as Office Depot or Fed Ex Kinko's.
